The Lightest Shade: Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation Review + Swatches
Hello everyone :)
I recently got done cleaning my room and getting everything all settled after I moved all of my stuff out of my college apartment. It wasn't until all of my belongings from here and school were together that I realized how much crap I have accumulated throughout the years, so I decided to have a little purge and throw things out like crazy. It took me about three days to get everything the way that I wanted it, but overall I'm quite satisfied with the end result.
Since I have been away from the blogging game for a moment, I am excited to jump back in with a foundation review for you all. If you know anything about me, you know that I almost never go anywhere without at least some foundation on my face, but finding one that works well for my fair, dry skin is such a freaking struggle. So when I found out that Maybelline was releasing a super fair foundation, I could not get to the drugstore fast enough. I mean, did I really need another foundation? No, I really didn't, and I don't need anymore, but does that or will that ever stop me? Hell no!

So today I am reviewing (if you haven't already figured it out) the Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation in the shade 102 Fair Porcelain. And if that name doesn't scream "I'm deathly afraid of the sun, help me I'm translucent" than I don't know what else will. Next to any pure white foundation that I own (LA Girl makes a great one), this has to be the lightest foundation shade I have ever found, which is pretty incredible.
I think I personally got really lucky with this one because it has more of a yellow undertone, which is what I have, so unfortunately if you have more of a pinkish undertone to your skin this might not work for you. Of course, you could always mix it with another foundation to lighten any other product you are using. As you can see, I've already used a lot of it and I've only had it for a little while. I mixed it with my all time favorite foundation (CoverGirl Healthy Elixir) and it worked really well since that foundation is really dark.
Now while this is fair skin approved, it is important to note that it is a mattifying foundation which is kind of a nightmare for anyone with dry skin. Fortunately, if I prep my skin well enough, I do not have any issues with dryness when I apply it. However, it does tend to get very dry towards the end of the day. After roughly 10 hours it looks like my entire face is shedding off a layer, which ain't a sexy look, but I think 10 hours of wear is pretty decent, especially for a drugstore product. If you want a separate post on how I prepare my dry skin for makeup application, let me know!
In terms of application, it goes on effortlessly. Within seconds I get full coverage without any streaks or patchiness. For reference, I use a sponge to apply it most of the time, but it also works really well with a paddle brush. Of course, since it is super full coverage, if you want to look Au-natural, this ain't the foundation for you. The littlest bit covers a ton, which makes it easy to go overboard and apply way too much. I never need additional concealer when I use this. And I have to say, for a full coverage foundation, it doesn't feel all that heavy on the face. I am still scarred from the Kat Von D foundation with how thick and heavy that one was. I honestly can't believe anyone can tolerate that on their face for longer than a few minutes, let alone a full day.
The only serious issue, OK not serious, but issue nonetheless that I have with this foundation is how it creases on me. It settles in my smile lines pretty badly. To be honest, I never used to get creases around my mouth, like ever. However, I have been really happy lately with a lot of good things happening in my personal life, so I guess the smile lines are just a sign of a level of happiness I haven't experienced in a long time, so I should probably just embrace them.
As always, thanks for reading,
Stina :)
