Summer Makeup Essentials to Look Glam in the Heat

Stina's Sphere: Summer Makeup Essentials to Look Glam in the Heat

Yes, the summer is basically over, but better late than never, right? We are currently experiencing yet another brief heat wave in the Northeast, so as such, I thought I would pull together all of my favorite beauty products that help me deal with the hot and humid weather.

These products not only help my makeup to last, but they also make my makeup routine much quicker because I only stick to the essentials. When it comes to hotter weather, I try to stay away from heavy powders and creams that I know will look cakey and will melt away by the end of the day. Less is more, and while you could totally just skip the makeup altogether, if you do want to put some on, you should definitely give these products a try.

Stina's Sphere: Summer Makeup Essentials to Look Glam in the Heat

Tarte Shape Tape

Stina's Sphere : Tarte Shape Tape

When it is super hot and muggy outside, the last thing I want to do is apply a heavy layer of foundation that I know will not last no matter how many hours the brand claims it will. Concealer is an easy way to avoid that heavy face of makeup because you can use it around the areas you need (any discoloration, acne, under-eye dark circles) and leave the rest of your face makeup free. This will allow your skin to breathe a bit more, while helping to give you the appearance of clear, bright skin.

Additionally, I love this concealer in particular because it lasts a really long time without creasing or melting off my face. Since it is self-setting, you don't have to set it with a powder, just make sure you don't use a ton of product because a little goes a long way and it can look cakey if you apply too much. This one is a summer staple for sure.

Tarte Shape Tape can be found at Ulta and Tarte's website and retails for $27.

Catrice Prime and Fine Transforming Drops Waterproof

Stina's Sphere : Catrice Waterproof Transforming Drops

Wow am I so glad I discovered this product. It really does help your makeup become waterproof, which means it is sweat and humidity proof! Just mix this in with any foundation, bb cream, or even moisturizer, and your makeup will not melt off. I find that it truly helps to make my makeup last and keep me matte throughout the day.

I imagine the product would also work wonders for people with oily skin. It really does help to control oil without drying out the face, so I bet it would help those with oilier skin throughout the whole year. Considering this is such an affordable, yet effective product, I think it is totally worth a try.

The Catrice Prime and Fine Transforming Drops Waterproof can be found at Ulta and it retails for $7.99.

Milk Makeup Holographic Highlighter Stick in "Mars"

Stina's Sphere: Milk Makeup Highlighter in Mars

Of course I had to include a highlighter on this list! Since I don't like to wear a heavy foundation or powders on hot, summer days, powder highlights are not an option because do not seem to sit or last on my bare skin that well; that's when I turn to a cream highlighter. This one in particular is super easy to apply and also looks nice and glowy on the skin. Just a few quick swipes on the tops of my cheekbones and I am glowing and ready to head out the door.

The only issue I have with this is that it doesn't really set down on the face. Normally that doesn't become an issue because I tend to keep my hair out of my face when it is hot, but if my hair is down, it can catch on this highlighter. However, since it is so easy to apply, I can easily swipe some more back on should it get smudged. It is that easy to get a nice glow.

The Milk Makeup Holographic Highlighter Stick in "Mars" is sold at Sephora and retails for $28.

Tarte Cosmetics Pro Glow Palette

Stina's Sphere: Tarteist Pro Glow Palette

This palette has four powder highlights, a powder bronzer/contour, and a cream contour/bronzer, so it is quite versatile and can be used year-round. I love the tone of the cream bronzer because it is not too orange and not too grey, and it blends out to look really nature and not too extreme in the slightest. It also blends out effortlessly without looking patchy or uneven. The powder bronzer works well with the cream and can be used on top of the cream to help set it so it lasts a bit longer on the face.

If I am going out or feel like putting on some foundation, I will turn to this palette for a nice powder highlight. There are all quite stunning and smooth on the skin. Since I am so fair, there are only really two shades that work on my face (the ones on the right), but all of these powders can be used on the eyes if you want a quick makeup look that also looks like you put in a lot of effort. It really is a great palette that has a lot of products in one package.

Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eye Shadow in "Enchantress"

I love to keep things simple on those days when it is super hot and muggy outside. These Stila liquid eye shadows make it so easy to look so good. You don't need to fuss with any powders or blend for ten minutes to perfect your look, but rather all you need to so is swipe some of this product on your lids and you are good to go.

I love how this eye shadow self-sets and does not crack, flake, or melt throughout the day. It truly does last for hours, and it is such a simple way to gives your eyes a nice little pop. It makes you look like you took a lot of time to do your eye makeup, when in reality, you only needed a few seconds. I can't wait to pick up more shades of this product!

Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eye Shadow in "Enchantress" can be found at Ulta and Stila's website for $24

L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara

There is absolutely nothing worse than having your mascara melt off in the heat and making you look like a racoon. If it's hot out, you should definitely be using a waterproof mascara because a regular mascara will not survive the moisture in the air from any humidity or any sweat on your face.

This mascara in particular is pretty great as well because it gives good length and volume. It's not going to make you look like you have fake lashes on, but it will help you look more awake and have bigger eyes. It's also super affordable and can be found almost anywhere.

Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Priming & Setting Spray and Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Stina's Sphere : Setting Sprays

The key to having your face makeup last all day long is to lock it all in. These setting sprays both work wonders on their own, but together they are even better. The Too Faced spray is super hydrating so it helps plump your skin up if it becomes a little dry or irritated from those hot temperatures and humidity. I also think it works super well as a primer because it almost leaves your face a bit sticky, so any product you lay on top of it adheres to the skin better and lasts longer.

The Urban Decay spray is perhaps the best setting spray I have ever used in terms of making my makeup last all day. I have a 13 hour work day between my commute and time in the office, and at the end of the day, I don't look like a train-wreck. You need this product in your life if you want your makeup to last!

MAISON MARGIELA 'REPLICA' Beach Walk Roller Ball Perfume

Stina's Sphere : Replica Beach Walk

I rarely ever talk about perfumes because I'm fine with just a Bath & Body Works body spray in a hurry, but ever since this scent came into my life, that has all changed.

Now, I actually don't like going to the beach, but this smells exactly like a walk along a nice sandy beach. I honestly can't explain it any better. I don't know how they do it, but it's like magic in a bottle. It is such a nice light scent, and it lasts all day long. The full size of this perfume is over 100 dollars, which nearly gives me a stroke just at the thought of spending that much for liquid scent, but the roller ball is under $30, which I can work with.

I know this is more of a summer scent, but I can see myself using this all the time because it is just that nice. I'll definitely be buying another roller ball if I should go through this one any time soon.

The MAISON MARGIELA 'REPLICA' Beach Walk Roller Ball Perfume can be found at Sephora for $26.

So those were some of my favorite products for the summertime that have helped me get through these past few months. The summer might be winding down, but that doesn't mean you can't end it on a high note with a kick ass face of makeup!

Thanks for reading,

Stina :)
