5 Hot Products at Sephora, Tested: Are They Worth It?
Hi, everyone :)
So today I am talking about some of the new products I picked up during the Sephora VIB sale last week. There were so many new products that I wanted to try out, and once I got them, I could not wait to immediately put them on my face...all at once!
All of these products that I am talking about today have been so hyped up on the internet, so I had really high hopes going in. However, as you will see, not everything worked out like I wanted them to. So, without any further ado, let's get into it.
Milk Makeup Blur + Set Matte Loose Setting Powder
I am a huge sucker for a new setting powder, so I was excited to get a hold of this one. I have recently become a big fan of Milk Makeup as I think they have some really interesting products and cute packaging. That being said, I feel a bit lukewarm about this powder.
While I can make it work on my fair skin, it is just a tiny bit too dark to brighten my under-eye area if I am using this to bake my concealer with. I should mention that this powder comes with a mesh sifter, but I actually removed that because it is impossible to get out enough powder to bake with while it is on.
It is mattifying, like it claims, but it does not last all day. I have some shine peak through after just a few hours. It is super blurring, which, as I have come to find with blurring products, means your makeup looks great at a distance, but it doesn't look all that smooth or even up close; it kinda just looks heavy but not cakey per say, if that makes any sense. However, it's not horrible for texture, and it does help blur dryness without clinging to dry patches, but it just doesn't look as flawless as I would like.
It is one of the cheapest high-end setting powders as far as price, and if you have large pores you want to blur, or normal to oily skin you want to mattify, I would suggest you try it out for yourself. I am going to keep testing it out to see if my thoughts change, but so far the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Setting Powder is still my holy-grail.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Contour Pro
As someone who has tried the majority of the Benefit Brow collection, I can say that this product is kinda disappointing. I used to use Precisely My Brow as well as the Ka-Brow religiously, but this product just doesn't work as well as those.
The product is much too thick to be able to make precise lines, and I feel like I constantly have to keep twisting it up to get more product out. In addition, the definer and highlighter shades are too dark for me which, granted, I am super fair, but I feel like they should be a bit more universal. They also don't blend out the best. I find that they drag on the skin and tend to look a bit muddy. I like having clean looking brows, but this product makes my brows look like I did them on a moving train or had a child fill them in for me. I was so excited to try this out, but sadly, it just isn't my favorite.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette
This is now my second Anastasia palette -the other I have is the Soft Glam Palette - and both are two of my favorite palettes of all time. I love purples and cool tones, so this palette is perfect for me!
I love how creamy and pigmented all of the mattes and shimmers are. They work well with a dry brush, and even better when wet. I have not had a single issue with blending these, which is something I worried about after the Subculture drama. Thankfully, I have nothing but positive things to say about this palette.
Some of the colors might be kinda funky, but I actually can get away with wearing some of these shades to work, and then, of course, when I am not working, I go a bit crazy. I love having a palette than can give me an office look as well as a off the clock look. It's very versatile and fun, and I don't think I will be putting it down anytime soon.

Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer
Wow this is an expensive primer, and boy do I wish it worked better for me. I recently tried out this product and was less than satified with the results. This stuff brought out all of my dry patches and even seemed to create more as I was applying. My face was a flaky mess after once I pressed it into my skin, and it continued to get more and more dry the longer I wore it. I couldn't even make it a full day before removing it from my face.
Don't get me wrong though, from a distance, my face looked flawless; so smooth I looked photoshopped, but up close, my face was peeling and textured.
I feel like this product would work better for those who have more oily to normal skin, but those with dry skin may have to be careful. I moisturize really well, and still had issues. I want to keep testing it out to see if I can get it to work, but for now, I don't think it is worth the money if you have dry skin.
Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick in Amber
Recently, I have gotten really into cream makeup. Since I have to be out the door so early in the morning to catch my train, I want makeup that is quick and easy to apply. I also don't want to wear a ton of powder because I work really long hours, and the less I have on my face, the less of a hot mess I become.
Anyways, this stick has become my new favorite contour product. It has the perfect undertone so that it isn't too warm and makes me look orange and it isn't too grey so that it washes me out. It really is the perfect shade, which is so hard to find when you have fair skin.
It is super creamy and doesn't drag on the skin at all. I love how blendable and buildable this product is. No matter what I use to apply it, fingers, sponge, or brush, it comes out looking flawless and super natural in seconds. This helps slim my face without it appearing too obvious that I'm wearing makeup, which I love. This makes me want to try out more Fenty Beauty products out in the future for sure!
